Bears around the world need your help
Each year wild bears in many countries, including the U.S., are killed so that their gall bladders and other parts can be sold. In addition, 12,000 bears are currently being kept on farms in Asia, where their bile is inhumanely extracted twice a day for use in commercial products. Although a majority of States currently prohibit the trade in bear parts, poaching of wild bears continues to thrive because of the inconsistency of the laws from State to State. The Bear Protection Act (H.R. 3029), a bill currently in the House of Representatives, would close these loopholes by prohibiting the international and interstate commerce in bear organs, including gall bladders and bile.
